The Polish Ethnological Society Archive collects continuously the activity documentation from the Towarzystwo Ludoznawcze period when it was based at Lvov in the years 1895-1939, the documentation of its board activity as well as its regional divisions and problem sections material activities. The archive stores and preserves the manuscripts of all major Polish ethnologists, e.g. Stanisław Poniatowski, Jan Kubary, Adam Fischer, Wincenty Pol, the correspondence of the society with scientific and culture establishments in the country and abroad, and the field research material. The Polish Ethnological Society Archive collection is constantly enriched due to gifts coming from individual persons and institutions. The Polish Ethnological Society Archive takes over academic works inherited from deceased ethnologists in accordance with the wish of their inheritors.
Separate collection consists of Old Polish documents coming from the archive of professor Stanisław Poniatowski.
Since 1989 numerous manuscripts, typescripts and documents concerning exiles to the former Soviet Union from the years 1939-1956 have been collected. They consist a separate set of the archive. Further files presenting Siberian deportees’ memories have been received due to preliminary researches in local departments of the Association of Siberian Deportees and as gifts from individual persons. The collection counts at present 951 files.
